SSL AND DIGITAL CERTIFICATES - online security and digital strong authentication

Trustis is a Certificate Manufacturer. This means that we make certificates at our Certificate Factory on behalf of our clients to their particular specification. Trustis does not normally run third-party services, although there are some exceptions like the SSL service we run for the NHS.

Most of our customers have specific requirements and want their certificates manufactured from an infrastructure over which they have control over policy and registration. In these cases we usually design and build a PKI for them and then host it in our Trust Service Centre (TSC) where Certificate Factory operates.

When customers want small numbers of standard certificates, we recommend they go to one of the partners for whom we manufacture certificates. For example Government Gateway certificates can be purchased online from the British Chambers of Commerce service, Chamber SimplySign.

Our Factory is tScheme approved and ISO27001 accredited and operates to the very highest standards. Customers who wish to have their own tScheme approval can significantly reduce the time and cost, simply by being engineered and accepted into Certificate Factory. They can operate under their own root or under our Microsoft approved FPS root as long as they have their system engineered to the appropriate standards.

Trustis can also provide certificate packages such as e secure email or document signing. For example, for organisations wishing to authenticate users, digitally sign documents and encrypt data, we can build a secure email service. This includes building a dedicated PKI, designing and integrating certificates into the desktop application e.g. Outlook, Lotus Notes, and training staff to use the service. We can host and manage the PKI in our secure facility and provide various methods for users to apply for certificates. Local or web based registration are both popular as is the use of pre-authentication.

Digital Certificates can be created locally or delivered on tokens and smartcards, as files or downloaded from a website.
